It does this in several ways: By actively seeking to enlist dog owners as members; by running a variety of shows and other canine events; by acting as a licensing authority for most pedigree dog shows in Scotland; by providing an information source to members and the public relating to dogs in Scotland; and by means of an education programme. MEMBERSHIP Application for membership is open to everyone interested in dogs, and most people who share a common interest know the benefits of membership of the national body which promotes their particular interest. CANINE EVENTS The Club organizes a wide variety of canine events including two major General Championship Shows, Championship & Open Agility Tests, Championship Obedience Tests, Championship & Open Working Trial Tests, Top Scottish Show Dog of the Year & Top Open Dog & Puppy of the Year. These events show dogs at their best, beauty wise and in a working context, and also offer a social occasion for members. Details of relevant Seminars are posted on our website and are posted to members relating to their particular interests. There are discounted entry rates for members. LICENSING AUTHORITY The Kennel Club has long recognized the value of a separate organization in Scotland to license and control dog shows. Licenses are issued by the Scottish Kennel Club and all matters relating to these shows go through the office in Musselburgh. The Committee Room seats 12 people at a tabled meeting. There are kitchen facilities and ample parking. We are situated just off the Edinburgh Bypass, which makes our facilities ideally located.
