Giving a home to a Rescue dog is one of the most rewarding opportunities you could have so, if you don’t feel you can cope with a puppy, have you thought to take on a Rescue?

Most breeds have a rescue organisation which takes on the task of finding new homes for those dogs who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in need of a good loving home.

• Rescue dogs don’t come ready made
• The dogs will generally need training so make sure you have the time to give to that
• Be prepared to have a assessment carried out on you, your family and your home
• Rescue organisations only want the best for their dogs so checking is in the interests of everyone and the dog
• You and your family are strangers to the dog so you must give him/her plenty of time to settle in, plenty of patience till he/she gets to know you and plenty of exercise to use up his/her energy
