You can telephone (0131 665 3920) with debit/credit details, or write advising us of the breed or breeds you are interested in, and you can have a listing for up to 3 breeds for the modest fee of £5.00. Thinking of buying a puppy ?

Before you do, The Scottish Kennel Club would like you to know . . . .

That... this club is the pre-eminent source of information on buying a pedigree puppy in Scotland.

If...you buy a pedigree dog that you are told is eligible for registration with the Kennel Club, you are entitiled to receive from the seller, a registration certificate that will enable you to transfer ownership of your dog.

If...the seller cannot give you the registration certificate, you should demand and receive full identification of your dog in writing, signed by the seller, consisting of the breed, the registered names and individual registration numbers of your dog's sire and dam, your dog's date of birth and the name of the breeder.

• Don't be misled by promises of "papers" later
• Demand a registration certificate or proper identification as described above
• If neither is supplied - Don't buy the Dog !

Why should I buy from a responsible breeder?
When you make the decision to bring a new puppy into your home, you are not looking for a possession, you are looking for new family member. With your puppy comes huge emotional attachment and financial responsibility; it is important to buy from a responsible breeder - one who has invested his/her experience and knowledge into producing healthy, loving puppies to be treasured by their owners.

How do I find a responsible breeder?
The Scottish Kennel Club can provide you with a list of breeders for your chosen breed(s). All we require from you is a note advising us of the breed or breeds you are interested in and you can have a listing for up to 3 breeds for the modest fee of £5.00 or telephone with debit/credit card details and the listing(s) will be posted the same day.
